Hey everyone! It’s Daniah here, your tutor and social media editor at Babylon Tutors.
With exam season fast approaching, it’s natural for students to feel overwhelmed and stressed. However, I’m here to share some tips and strategies that have helped me manage exam stress effectively.
- Start early!
Begin your revision as soon as possible to avoid last-minute cramming. Create a study schedule and prioritise topics you find challenging or have forgotten. Aim for at least 3 hours of study time per day, and remember to take breaks to avoid burnout. Here are some examples for GCSE and A-level students:

- Take breaks regularly
Avoid studying non-stop and make time for activities you enjoy. Incorporate regular breaks into your study sessions to rest and recharge. Experiment with techniques like the Pomodoro Technique or the 52-17 Method to find what works best for you.
Pomodoro Technique
- Set a timer for a specific study period, traditionally 25 minutes.
- Work on your chosen task for the entire duration of the timer, without any distractions.
- Once the timer goes off, take a short break of 5 minutes.
- After the break, set the timer for another study session and repeat the process.
- After completing four study sessions, take a longer break of 15-30 minutes to recharge before starting the next set of Pomodoros.
52-17 Method
- Set a timer for 52 minutes and focus exclusively on your study task during this time.
- Once the 52 minutes are up, take a break for 17 minutes.
- After the 17-minute break, return to your study session and repeat the cycle.

- Practise self-care
Many students tend to overlook their well-being during exam season, and I personally experienced this. However, neglecting self-care can significantly impact your productivity. It’s crucial to prioritise getting enough sleep and organising your day effectively. Additionally, consuming nutritious meals can enhance your brain’s capacity to process information. Take time to engage in activities you enjoy and ensure that stress doesn’t overpower you. Stay resilient and prioritise your well-being!
- Seek support
Don’t hesitate to reach out to family, friends, or teachers for support. Talking about your worries can help alleviate stress, and seeking guidance from your teachers can provide valuable insights and assistance.
